Reflecting on a Milestone Year

As I crossed the milestone of turning 50, I found myself reflecting not just on the years gone by but on the journey—quiet, steady, and deeply fulfilling—that has brought me here. First, I would like to thank everyone who sent kind messages, made phone calls, sent gifts, and offered prayers. Your thoughtfulness meant more than I can put into words. Secondly, if you’re wondering what a glamour photoshoot has to do with living empowered at 50, you will soon find out.

A Symbolic Act of Empowerment
To celebrate this new chapter, I did something wildly outside my comfort zone – I had a full-blown photoshoot and shared it on social media. Yes, me! Believe it or not, there was a time when I would deactivate all my social media accounts around my birthday just to avoid any attention. I didn’t even enter my birth date on Facebook. On the off chance that a well-meaning friend might give me a shoutout, I’d quietly disappear from the digital world.

Now, why did I go through all these lengths to be unnoticed? Because being visible and noticed, even on social media, can be very draining for an introvert like me. So, if you had told my 30-year-old self that I’d be sharing those photos with the world, she would’ve laughed nervously and quietly backed out of the room.

But here’s the thing: Sharing my photoshoot pictures on social media wasn’t about the camera, the clothes, or even the milestone celebration. It was about owning my growth, honoring my well-being, and living empowered by standing fully in the woman I’ve become. As a lifelong introvert, I’ve often struggled with visibility—not just socially but also in allowing myself to take up space, celebrate wins, and share my story. This photoshoot became a symbolic act of self-acceptance and personal empowerment.

Choosing Visibility from a Place of Power
Even now, in my fifties, I may still choose to decline an invitation to make a grand appearance on social media. But here’s the shift—today, I decline from a place of power, not from fear. Back then, I was hiding. Now, I’m choosing. There’s a difference. I no longer do so out of fear or hiding. I do it from a place of knowing who I am, what restores me, and what I value. That, to me, is grace. That is grit. That is living empowered.

Living Empowered – Wellness Beyond the Physical
Turning 50 feels like standing on sacred ground – deeply rooted, spiritually aligned, and finally at peace with who I am. My wellness journey has never just been about food or fitness. It’s been about wholeness: body, mind, and soul. And right now, I feel more whole than I’ve ever been.
